What is a franchise broker?
Last reviewed July 6, 2026
A franchise broker — often self-titled "franchise consultant" or "coach" — matches buyers to brands and is paid a commission by the franchisor when you buy, commonly a five-figure share of your franchise fee. Good brokers save search time; all of them carry a structural bias toward the brands that pay them. Advice funded by commissions is sales, so keep your FDD review and validation independent.
Questions that sort the field fast: Which brands pay you, and how much? Which brands did you show me that you don't get paid on? A broker who answers plainly can still be useful. This site's model differs: brands can pay per inquiry you choose to send, disclosed here, and the filed numbers stay identical for paying and non-paying brands.
